Santa Monica is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Los Angeles County, California. The beachside city is home to vast areas of natural beauty, theme parks, oceanfront estates, and more. There is always something happening here-so here’s a look at some of the upcoming events in Santa Monica that you may not want to miss this summer.

The Santa Monica July 4th Parade has evolved over the years-and always for the better. The Ocean Park Association organizes this event, which was created to bring together families, artists, civic groups, and a wide range of entertainment exhibitionists. 

The parade typically begins at Pico Boulevard on Main Street and ends at the southern-most beach parking lot. Come on down wearing your red, white, and blue to celebrate.

Happening each Friday in July and August, the Picnic on the Promenade is a series of events that feature classic board games, giant Jenga, and Ping Pong. The event takes place on the 3rd Street Promenade and is free.

Come hang out and enjoy refreshing ocean breezes over a cold drink and some tantalizing food. There will also be a DJ playing fun and festive music to help you shed off the stress of the workweek.

Every second Friday of the summer months, the Annenberg Community Beach House welcomes adults for a night of splashy fun. Imagine-after a long work week, going for an evening swim at a nice hotel, where only grown-ups are hanging around the pool; the entire scene takes on a tranquil vibe. The event takes place between 6:30 and 9:30 pm., so be sure to get there in time for sundown to shed off the work week tension.

Here’s another fun-filled annual event that you shouldn’t miss. The Main Street Summer SOULstice is the only music festival in Santa Monica that spans over one mile. The festival features six stages, at least 100 vendors, and activities for all age groups. What To Do In Santa Monica.

Every Sunday in August between 5:00 and 7:00 pm, Santa Monica Cultural Affairs treats the city to an evening of free jazz. This is the perfect time to sample some jazz and world music genres, as well as enjoy free dance lessons, intermission performances, and a selection of fine cuisines. 

The event takes place in Gandara Park, formerly known as the Stewart Street Park. It a family event and open to all ages. Come early with a picnic blanket or beach chair and enjoy a range of family-fun activities for both kids and adults, including giant blocks, cornhole, and more.
